Confidentiality

Confidentiality is important in a therapeutic relationship as its part of building trust.  Everything you discuss will be treated with respect and confidential. Sometimes there are exceptions, when I have to break confidentiality is

  • If you are at serious risk of harm
  • In cases of child abuse
  • Abuse of  elderly person
  • Required by court of law
  • Required by law to report  terrorist activities or criminal offence
  • somebody else's life is at risk

No discussion takes place with your G.P, employer, partner, family members, friends or other agencies without your knowledge. In cases of above mentioned circumstances, Niru is obliged to break confidentiality by law or disclose information to safe guard you and others at risk. She will discuss the matter with you before taking action.

If you think that you are going to require a report to help you with a court case, you need to mention this matter to Niru at you first session. She will discuss and inform you of the requirements due to confidentiality.

Confidentiality will be discussed at your first session. Please ask questions
